S. Korean a capella group's cover of 'Coco' song goes viral

A South Korean a cappella group has gone viral on TikTok with their cover of “Un Poco Loco” from Disney’s 2017 animated film “Coco.”

Maytree, a five-member a cappella group from South Korea, have received over 17.5 million views and 2.3 million likes for their short but impressive cover uploaded on Oct. 29.

The musical cover quickly went viral for showcasing their talent and an opening grito that shocked Maytree’s viewers. A grito is a shout of excitement that can typically be heard in mariachi music.

“THAT GIRL JUST GRITO AYYY,” one Tiktok user wrote.

“That grito was so impressive 😭,” another commented.

Two days after their cover of “Un Poco Loco,” Maytree followed up with another “Coco” song cover, “Remember Me.” As of this writing, the video has garnered over 230,000 views and 18,000 likes.

A complete cover of the “Coco” theme can be found on Maytree’s YouTube channel, where they share content and covers of musical numbers, theme songs and sound effects.

This isn’t the first time the a cappella group has gone viral. Maytree also made an appearance on “America’s Got Talent (AGT) earlier this year. Performing a compilation of popular TV theme songs, the group received a “yes” from all four of the show’s judges and a standing ovation from the crowd.

Although Maytree was not selected to perform in the semifinals, eliminating them from AGT, the group has continued to make their presence known through social media and performances on South Korean media. Featured
