Kourtney Kardashian is teaching Mason, Penelope (aka Poosh_, and Reigny (her three kids, keep up!) to use their voices and live a more sustainable life. In a post on Poosh, Kourt's lifestyle website, the oldest Kardashian sister explained her decision to speak up at the kids' school when she noticed meals and snacks she found to be "unsettling," including processed foods and "less than fresh, inorganic produce," as well as single-use plastics in rotation.

"I’ve found that simply using my voice to stand up for small changes that add up to big impacts is so effective at not only creating change, but setting an example for my children," Kourtney wrote.

She talked about voicing her concerns about the school's lunch menu to her kids' principal, including the quality of the food, the options offered (including types of milk), and the school's sustainability measures, for example, doing away with single-use plastic. "It may seem annoying, but in the long run, I’m doing it for my children and their futures," she wrote.

People will undoubtedly complain about Kourtney raising an issue in what's likely a well-off school, but props to her for advocating for her kids and for encouraging others to do the same. Michelle Obama would be proud!

A Poosh Instagram caption about the post continued, "Some changes may seem like they are out of your reach, but truly are within your grasp."

In that vein, Kourt shared a few ways she cuts down on her own family's waste, including using these Stasher bags in place of plastic baggies for snacks and these Beeswax Wraps to make leftovers last longer without plastic wrap or tin foil. She wrapped things up by offering a few ways to make your voice heard in your own community, including asking your local smoothie shop to ditch plastic straws (shop some of our faves below). You go Kourt!
