Kraken flag raised atop Space Needle to celebrate team’s playoff debut

On Monday morning, fans got to raise the Kraken flag at the Space Needle to celebrate the team making it into the postseason.

Among the fans was Pat Monahan, a Seattle transplant who is the lead singer for the pop-rock band Train.

“Let’s go win some playoff games, right?” said Monahan.

The team is headed east for its first Stanley Cup playoff game in franchise history, and with this being just their second season in the league, fans are beyond excited.

“I think the speed that these guys have on the ice, they know how to score. We just need to keep their puck out of our goal,” said Monahan.

“It’s unbelievable. I know last season was hard, but just watching these boys work so hard, we definitely are really happy,” said Kraken fan Ann Jun.

The team will be on the road for games 1 and 2 against defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Colorado Avalanche.

Tickets for those games start at around $100 on Ticketmaster.

The Kraken will then head back to Seattle for games 3 and 4 on Saturday, Apr. 22, and Monday, Apr. 24.

Prices for seats at the Climate Pledge Arena are more than double, with tickets starting at $260.

Jun and her husband say they’ve been following the team from the beginning and have tickets for the first two home games.
