Krampus to pay a visit to Lizzie Borden House for storytelling events

FALL RIVER — You'd better watch out.

For a spooky fun holiday event, that is.

The Lizzie Borden House, 230 Second St., will be hosting a special Krampusnacht.

A Fall River landmark, the Lizzie Borden House is the sight of the unsolved 19th-century murders of Andrew and Abby Borden. Lizzie Borden was tried for their deaths but later acquitted.

Today the house is a museum as well as a bed and breakfast, hosting various events throughout the year.

This holiday season, they're hosting a decidedly different holiday celebration: they'll be hosting Krampus.

The legend of Krampus can be traced back to Central Europe as a devilish counterpart to St. Nicholas. While Santa is visiting all of the nice children bringing them gifts, the terrifying Krampus pays a visit to the naughty children, striking fear into their hearts, ensuring better behavior or else.

Krampus will be at the Borden house for storytelling events on Dec. 29 and 30, at 6 and 7:30 p.m., both nights.

Krampus, the Naughty List’s answer to Santa Claus, will be stopping by the Historic Lizzie Borden House on Dec. 29 and 30.

“We’re excited to offer something unique and lighthearted,” house manager Jared Robinson said in a press release. “When Krampus visited last year, it was a smashing success, audiences had a blast, and it was great to bring donations to Animal Rescue League here in Fall River.”

Since this is the season of giving, the house will collect donations of non-perishable pet food and cleaning supplies for The Animal Rescue League of Fall River. Lizzie Borden, an animal lover, and her sister, Emma Borden, were benefactors of the league.

Story time and photos with Krampus is a family-friendly event, but parents should be aware that Krampus is “a little spooky,” Robinson said. This Krampus will be kind enough to pose with guests for photos (included with admission), which will be delivered digitally.

The museum and bed and breakfast have also been decorated for the holiday season.

Tickets cost $15 and include story time and a photo with Krampus that will edited and shared digitally after the event. Tickets can be purchased at https://lizzie-borden.com or in the gift shop, which is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
