Krewe of Atlas Bal combines Mardis Gras with holiday flair for Shreveport party

The Krewe of Atlas celebrated the Grand Bal IVX "Holidays" Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The krewe aims to combine today’s modern cultural diversity with the time-honored traditions and festivities of Mardi Gras to the Shreveport and Bossier communities.

Their goal is to commit their time and talents to bring Mardi Gras to the masses and being an ally to the nonprofit community worldwide.

This year's celebration paid homage to the holidays with elaborately decorated tables. From red hearts for Valentine's Day and New year's champagne to the patriotic-themed table with American flags, the holidays shone brightly.

The theme continues into the tableaux where each member of the royal court dressed for a certain holiday. Duchess of Light Kelley McCain was stunning in a Statue of Liberty spin. Duke of Darkness Davy Pliler-Pearson took Halloween up a notch with black feather wings. In contrast, Princess Atlas XIV Bella Sims was sweet in a pretty Easter dress. Captain John Pumilio was a Jester and Queen Elizabeth Sims and King David Sims ended the night with a beautiful rendition of white Christmas
