Krewe of Endymion announces 2024 grand marshal, co-grand marshal

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Krewe of Endymion has announced its leaders for the 58th annual parade.

Krewe officials selected New Orleans Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montaño to lead them along their Mid-City route this year.

According to the Krewe, he’s the epitome of public service leadership, with decades of experience as a city administrator.

Endymion leaders said they are grateful for his commitment to the city and his passion and focus for support and service to the Mardi Gras celebrations, which recently had a $900 million economic impact.

It was also announced that New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick will join Montano as the Co-Grand Marshal.

“She has embraced our city’s unique culture with enthusiasm and care, and we are very pleased to provide her this special experience to see what the people of New Orleans and its visitors experience every Mardi Gras. We are thankful for her leadership and are deeply appreciative of her commitment to our citizens,” said Endymion officials.

The 3,200 all-male krewe is set to roll on Saturday, Feb. 10, starting at 4 p.m. The route has been extended this year to parts of St. Charles Avenue and past Gallier Hall.

At the parade’s end at the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center, 16,000 guests will enjoy performances by award-winning artists Sting and Flo Rida at the Endymion Extravaganza.
