Krispy Kreme doughnuts returning to Hendersonville? Find out how and where

In September 2022, Hendersonville's Krispy Kreme that had been operating since 2007 off of Four Seasons Boulevard next to McDonald's closed, leaving doughnut lovers in Hendersonville wondering if there would ever be another Krispy Kreme in town again.

On March 26, the answer came, and it wasn't what Krispy Kreme consumers were expecting. In a nationwide news release, McDonald's announced it had partnered with Krispy Kreme and will be selling the doughnuts, hot and fresh, at restaurants all across the country.

“The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘please bring Krispy Kreme to my town.’ Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme,” said Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth in the release.

When will the doughnuts be sold in Henderson County?

McDonald's did not give specific dates for when it would start selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts or at which restaurants. So far, the only McDonald's restaurants currently selling them are in Kentucky, according to the release.

"Fans will begin spotting Krispy Kreme doughnuts in their local McDonald’s restaurants later this year as part of a phased market rollout across the country. Nationwide availability at participating restaurants is expected by the end of 2026," the release said. "We do not have further details on specifics for the phased rollout at this time."

There are five McDonald's locations in Henderson County owned and operated by C. Edwards Group (Rep. Chuck Edwards and his wife, Teresa) in Hendersonville. The locations are 1909 Four Seasons Blvd., 5775 Asheville Highway, 630 Spartanburg Highway, 101 Commercial Blvd. (Flat Rock) and 525 Airport Road (Fletcher).

No one from the C. Edwards Group returned calls or emails seeking comment on April 5.

What doughnuts will be sold at McDonald's?

According to the release, three of Krispy Kreme’s most popular doughnuts will be delivered fresh to McDonald’s restaurants every day. They’ll be available individually, or in boxes of six, starting at breakfast and lasting throughout the day – while supplies last:

  • Original Glazed Doughnut

  • Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles Doughnut

  • Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut

McDonald's said in its release that these three were selected following successful tests at 160 McDonald’s restaurants in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky areas. These pilot restaurants will continue to serve Krispy Kreme doughnuts during the nationwide rollout.

“Since the launch of breakfast nearly 50 years ago, we’ve continued to offer new menu items, flavors and experiences that have made McDonald’s an irreplaceable part of fans’ morning routines,” said Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA’s chief marketing and customer experience officer, in the release. “This partnership is an exciting next step in that journey and a chance to unlock new business opportunities in the breakfast category and throughout the day.”
