Krispy Kreme and Dunkin' cook up giveaways for National Doughnut Day

Got a hole in your budget? You can still treat yourself to a free doughnut and other deals June 2 in honor of National Doughnut day.

Krispy Kreme is giving people one doughnut of their choice free that day with no other purchase necessary. It's also offering a dozen glazed doughnuts for $2 with the purchase of any dozen.

“Our fans look forward to celebrating National Doughnut Day every year with family, friends and co-workers, and they really enjoy getting their favorite doughnut – any doughnut – for free!” Krispy Kreme Global Chief Brand Officer Dave Skena said in a release announcing the deals.

You'll have to go to a Krispy Kreme location or drive-through to pick up your free doughnut. But the $2 glazed dozen deal is also available through delivery services. The chain has 14 stores in Alabama including:

Gadsden

]Meanwhile at Dunkin' you can get a free classic doughnut — glazed, Boston kreme or strawberry frosted with sprinkles — with the purchase of each drink. With all that premium coffee, there's plenty of choices to sip on, from butter pecan iced coffee to full-bodied cold brew.

Dunkin' is calling this the "ultimate doughnut day of the year," and urging forgetful fans to set alerts and turn on notifications.

“Friends don’t let friends miss out on free doughnuts,” said Jill McVicar Nelson, chief marketing officer for Dunkin’. “This June, we’re rallying donut fans nationwide to end donut FOMO (fear of missing out) for good. So gather your friends, grab your favorite donut on us, and indulge in the sweet delight of National Donut Day!”

Dunkin' sells more than 2 billion donuts and donut hole treats annually, which they say is enough to encircle the world in a giant donut 15 times.
