Cue up Rupert Holmes’ chart-topping 1979 yacht rock classic “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” for your next trip to Krispy Kreme.
The popular doughnut chain is headed to the tropics with its latest limited-time only offerings.
On Monday, the company unveiled tropical-influenced confections, with a piña colada flavored one that will surely send festive foodies into a frenzy.
Starting May 17, Krispy Kreme’s new Island Time collection consist of the Piña Colada Doughnut which has an Original Glazed donut base but is filled with a Piña Colada-flavored Kreme. The decadent treat is also dipped in a piña colada-flavored icing, sprinkled with toasted coconut shreds, and — added emphasis — topped with a candied cherry.
Meanwhile, the Key Lime Pie Doughnut is filled with Key Lime Kreme, dipped in lime green icing, and topped with graham crumbs and a Kreme dollop.
And for the decorative, signature Island Time Doughnut, an Original Glazed doughnut is filled with classic Kreme and is dipped in light blue icing and graham cracker crumbs and topped with an icing based palm tree and clouds.
“People have been dreaming about returning to summer vacations. Our new Island Time doughnuts will give everyone a sweet taste of the tropics,” Krispy Kreme marketing chief Dave Skena said with the announcement.
The Island Time collection will only be sold at participating Krispy Kreme locations through May 30.
