Across the impressive roster of Chanel muses, few are as high-profile (or as innately stylish) as Kristen Stewart and Lily-Rose Depp. It goes without saying that the former has her personal style codes down to a tee: Stewart is regularly spotted in laid-back streetwear and baseball caps, while also opting for riffs on men’s tailoring and edgier takes on classic Chanel pieces when needing to dress up for the red carpet. The latter’s style, meanwhile, is more experimental—switching between romantic frocks for parties and film premieres, and more pared-back, ’90s-inspired looks when hanging out with friends, harkening back to the chic wardrobe staples from that decade worn by her mother, Vanessa Paradis.

A Chanel muse for many decades, Paradis was also in attendance last night for the house’s prefall 2020 collection—the fourth from creative director Virginie Viard after she replaced Karl Lagerfeld following his death in February. And sitting on the front row in pride of place were Stewart and Depp, who, after having a chat and a catch-up, happily hugged while posing for the photographers. Their outfits perfectly reflected their distinctive takes on dressing: While Stewart’s black belted romper and trademark layered jewelry gave the look a grungy twist, Depp’s black and white puffball minidress was perfect for Hollywood’s latest ingenue. With their yin and yang style, the two came together to form Chanel’s coolest front row duo. Their burgeoning—and very fashionable—friendship is just the cherry on the cake.
