Kristin Smart murder trial: Heated moments as father testifies
The Kristin Smart murder trial resumed Friday in Monterey County with Smart’s father, Stan, taking the stand and interactions between him and the defense getting tense at times. Paul Flores is accused of killing Stockton native Kristin Smart at an off-campus party when both were students at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo in 1996. Flores’ father Ruben is accused of helping to cover up the killing. The father and son each have their own juries, but they are on trial at the same time at the Monterey County Superior Courthouse in Salinas. Both have pleaded not guilty.
