Kristoffer Mugrage is first again in Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon

Colorado resident Kristoffer Mugrage once again recorded the fastest time in the Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon Sunday, taking the race in a time of 2:16:11.

Mugrage, a former Adams State distance runner and current professor, of Alamosa, Colorado, won the race last year as well, earning a time of 2:17:05. The Columbus Marathon's men's record time still stands, set in 1980 when Sweden's Tommy Persson finished the event in 2:11:02.

Josh Park, of Amherst Ohio and two-time Mid-American Conference cross country champion for Ohio University, took second place with a time of 2:18:58. Stanley Linton, of Tennessee, took third place with a time of 2:19:40.

Chad Johnson, of Indiana, won the wheelchair marathon division with a time of 2:12:31. Matthew Davis, of Bowling Green, won the half marathon with a time of 1:05:16.

James Ngandu, of Kenya, now Van Wert, Ohio and a former student at Tiffin University in Tiffin, won the men's half marathon for the fourth straight time with a time of 1:04:00. Ngandu won the 2022 Houston Marathon as a first-time marathon runner.

Jason Salyer, of Tipp City, Ohio took second place in the half marathon with a time of 1:04:30. Joshua Joseph, of Colorado, took third place with a time of 1:06:53.

More than 11,500 people participated in Sunday's Nationwide Children's Columbus Marathon and Half Marathon. Organizers have raised over $11 million for the hospital since 2012 and organizers estimate that they will bring that number to $12 million this year.
