Kroger to open food halls featuring Hardee's, Nathan's Famous, other chains

The newest food halls in Columbus will soon open in three Columbus-area Kroger stores, courtesy of California-based ghost kitchen company Kitchen United.

Mix Food Hall's first Ohio locations will open in Krogers at 3417 N. High St. in Clintonville, 7625 Sawmill Road in Dublin and 300 S. Hamilton Road in Gahanna. The Gahanna location will open next week, while the others will open before the end of November. Mix Food Hall will replace ClusterTruck in Kroger's Dublin store.

"We are always looking for new and unique ways to help our customers answer the 'what's for dinner tonight?' question," said Melissa Stimac, vice president of merchandising for Kroger's Columbus division. "The collaboration with Kitchen United is special because customers' restaurant-quality meal will be crafted while they're shopping for the fresh food and pantry staples their families need."

Each Mix Food Hall will offer food from at least six national restaurant chains. The planned lineup:

  • Gahanna: Nathan's Famous, Genghis Grill, Wow-Bao, Nekter Juice Bar, Fuku, Saladworks and Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

  • Clintonville: Hardee's, Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Wow-Bao, Nekter Juice Bar, Saladworks, Fuku and Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

  • Dublin: Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop, Wing Zone, Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Nathan’s Famous, Nekter Juice Bar, Fuku

Customers will be able to mix and match items from different restaurants, and orders will be available for pickup or delivery via on-site digital kiosks, online, through Mix Food Hall's app or other third-party delivery platforms. ("Multi-restaurant ordering" is only available through Mix's platform.)

The food halls, 800 to 930 square feet, will be located in Kroger's deli area. The Dublin and Gahanna locations will also include in-store seating.

"With our proprietary, leading-edge technology, Mix Food Hall is revolutionizing the way people order takeout, and we couldn't be more excited to introduce this one-of-a-kind experience to Columbus," said Michael Montagano, chief executive officer of Kitchen United, which operates the Mix Food Halls for Kroger.

"We've secured the perfect locations for us to serve quick, easy meals to local neighborhoods, businesses, and college students who enjoy having delicious options to take home after they get their grocery shopping done."
