KU fans blasted ESPN for all aspects of its coverage of Guaranteed Rate Bowl game

Judging by the reaction of Kansas football fans on social media, they were thrilled the Jayhawks won Tuesday’s Guaranteed Rate Bowl game but disheartened by the ESPN broadcast.
As a record number of penalties piled up on the Jayhawks, fans were left wondering why there weren’t replays of the infractions. They also were unhappy with the production crew and broadcasters.
In other words, there wasn’t happiness for those KU supporters who were not in Phoenix for the bowl game.
Fans were happy about the victory, but many shared their thoughts (or maybe it should be frustrations) about ESPN’s coverage of the game. Here is a look at some of what was being said on X (formerly Twitter).
It’s over, and we won, but . . .
let’s not pretend like this bowl wasn’t an unmitigated disaster. @espn production was garbage, the commentators were abysmal, & the @acc crew was an absolute embarrassment to college football. We’ve got to get to a better bowl next year. #kufball— Jayhawk Overreactions (@JHawkOverreact) December 27, 2023
@espn do you have a response regarding your terrible broadcast?

It’s ESPN!!! Horrible announcers I am sure neither announcer knew anything about either team.

Yes! It has been absolute amateur hour from the refs to the video production. @espn should be ashamed.

I was thinking the same damn thing !!

He also went into a commercial saying “when we come back I’ll tell you why I think KU has so many penalties”, then never said it…

I don’t think even ESPN+ has delivered this poor of a product.

It a like a bunch of high school students are producing it.

@espn you should be ashamed of yourself.

It’s one thing having this broadcasting crew on ESPN+, it’s a completely different thing to have them on ESPN
