It's the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library's 15th anniversary. Here's how to celebrate

The Kurt Vonnegut Museum is celebrating 15 years of being an official nonprofit organization in Indiana by offering free entry to the museum on Jan. 26 and hosting a party to celebrate that evening.

Guests who want to celebrate Vonnegut's legacy are able to enjoy free admission to the museum on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can also get free copy of Jess Walter’s The Cold Millions if they sign up for an NEEA Big Read event.

The museum is also hosting an anniversary party where there will be birthday treats, drinks, and trivia hosted by Curator Chris.

"In the evening, party with us like we’re on Tralfamadore with food, drinks at our Bokonon Lounge, and entertainment," the museum said on their website.

The anniversary party event will take place on Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library, 543 Indiana Ave.

Who was Kurt Vonnegut?

Kurt Vonnegut is a well-known author who was born in Indianapolis.

"He is known for his unflinching look at the world, tempered with a satirical eye and sardonic sense of humor," the museum wrote of him on their website.

His career spanned more than 50 years and in that time he wrote 14 novels, three short story collections, five plays and five works of nonfiction.

His most famous work is the best-selling novel, Slaughterhouse-Five, which is a semi-autobiographical science fiction-infused anti-war novel that was published in 1969.
