A Kwik Trip location is being proposed in the village of Hartland.

The village of Hartland is considering adding a Kwik Trip along Highway 83.

The newest location, which would be located at the intersection of Highway 83 and Capitol Drive, would join other franchises in the Lake Country area in Oconomowoc, Delafield, Pewaukee, Wales and Lisbon.

Site plans show the parcel being considered is on the east side of Highway 83 between Capitol Drive and Vettelson Road.

So far, Kwik Trip has shared its concept for a new location with the village plan commission and village board. The village board approved the presented concept Dec. 12 and it will now go back to the plan commission for review.

"I personally think it is a great idea and good for Hartland," said village president Jeffrey Pfannerstill. "I think it's a great company."

Troy Mleziva, director of real estate for Kwik Trip, told the village board that the company hopes to build a 12,000-square-foot convenience store on the property as well as a gas canopy for small and large vehicles. The property is roughly 5 acres. It was previously owned by the Department of Transportation.

Kwik Trip has previously purchased the Stop-N-Go, located at 101 E. Capitol Drive in 2020, but sold the property hoping to find a better location for a full-service convenience store and gas station.

"We are 24 hours in a fair amount of our locations," Mleziva said. "Typically we like it approved for 24 hours, but see if the business is there to be fully-staffed overnight. Delafield, Pewaukee ― we do have stores in the area that are 24 hours. I think our store in Lisbon is not 24 hours, but is not on a main highway-type intersection."

The proposed project is still in the concept stage and will appear again in front of the plan commission. If all plans are approved, it will then be considered and voted on by the plan commission. It is unclear at the moment what the timetable is for the project.
