Ukrainian air defense are reported to have intercepted all aerial targets approaching Kyiv in the morning of May 29 – just six hours after the all clear had been given from the overnight air raid, the city military administration reported on Telegram.

"According to preliminary information, the enemy used ballistic missiles (to attack Kyiv),” said the head of Kyiv military administration, Serhiy Popko.

“This was the 16th attack on the capital since the beginning of the month. Thus, the enemy has changed its tactics – it struck a peaceful city in the middle of the day, when most residents were at work and on the streets, following a lengthy overnight attack. In other words, the rashists (Russian fascists) are clearly demonstrating that they are targeting civilians.”

None of the missiles hit their targets, but falling missile wreckage injured a person and caused some minor damage, according to current reports on the situation in the capital.

Fragments of intercepted missiles fell in three of Kyiv's districts. Video shot in the capital showed screaming schoolchildren rushing to a bomb shelter, and burning wreckage from a missile lying on a roadway in Kyiv’s Podil District.

A civilian was injured by falling debris and taken to hospital in Podilskyi District, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.

Wreckage also fell on the streets in Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts, although no significant damage was caused. Emergency services were immediately at the scenes of the debris falls.

"The enemy attack came shortly after the air raid sirens sounded, which allows us to suggest that it used missiles that fly on a ballistic trajectory and that arrive quite quickly," Air Force Command spokesman Yuri Ihnat said on Ukrainian national television, suggesting that Russia had used Iskander missiles in its latest missile attack on Ukraine.
