The Kyiv City Administration (KMDA) has revealed that marriages and births in the city are flourishing despite Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the administration recently reported.

July 8 marked the 500th day since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and KMDA announced that during this time, 32,290 couples got married in Kyiv, and despite air raids and alarms, 24,026 babies were born in maternity hospitals and shelters: 12,337 boys and 11,689 girls. Among the newborns were 426 sets of twins and five sets of triplets.

“Five hundred days of struggle, without a single day of despair,” said Mykola Povoroznyk, the first Deputy Chairman of KMDA.

“Daily shelling inflicts innocent casualties in Russia’s war against a free and independent Ukraine. Our soldiers tirelessly reclaim their land from the clutches of the aggressor, inching closer each day to liberating the captured and mercilessly abducted children.”

“Each of us contributes to the country’s economy through our diligent work. As patriots of our state, we will not lay down our arms until all lands are reclaimed and all enslaved people return home.”

“Together, as a free and united nation, we will thrive on our own soil. We fight hand in hand for the opportunity to forge new families, live a life of happiness, and construct a future for our children in a Ukraine that is truly free.”
