Kyle Allen ranks 30th in PFF’s NFL quarterback rankings

He may only have a game and a half of results to show for the 2020 season, but that appears to be enough for Pro Football Focus to decide how good he is, and where he ranks among the 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL.
After a frustrating, yet somehow intriguing start to his time in Washington, Allen has been ranked as the 30th best starting quarterback in the NFL, beating out only New York Jets QB Sam Darnold, who been hurt for most of the season. PFF decided not to rank a 32nd QB, as the Miami Dolphins are currently between passers thanks to the change to Tua Tagovailoa. Here’s what PFF had to say about Allen:
The Dwayne Haskins era in Washington looks to be over already with a combination of poor play and poor attitude consigning him to the bench. That puts Kyle Allen back in the firing line, and while he has been better than last season in limited sample size, he has been stylistically the same player. Allen is reckless with the football and has as many turnover-worthy plays so far (two) as big-time throws despite an average depth of target of just 5.6 yards. Allen isn’t the answer in Washington unless the question is, “Who gives us the best chance of a high draft pick?”
We said above that Allen’s start in Washington has been at times intriguing, simply because he gives the offense more of a chance at big plays than Dwayne Haskins did. On Sunday, we saw him drop a couple of nice passes right where they needed to go in the endzone, the second of which gave Washington a chance to tie or win the game. However, it’s pretty obvious that he isn’t the guy for Washington long-term, so we have no problem with him being ranked this low.
