NEW PHILADELPHIA — A 32-year-old Mineral City resident has pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition involving a 15-year-old victim.

More: Mineral City man, 32, charged with abduction and gross sexual imposition

Kyle J. Moore entered the plea Thursday before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos, who found him guilty.

At the request of assistant county prosecutor Kristine Beard, the judge dismissed an abduction charge that alleged Moore restrained the liberty of the victim under circumstances that created a risk of physical harm or placed her in fear.

The gross sexual imposition charges allege that Moore compelled the victim to submit to sexual contact by force or threat of force.

Moore committed the offenses May 21, according to the indictment from the Tuscarawas County Grand Jury.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 16. Possible penalties for gross sexual imposition are a prison term of six to 18 months, probation and a $5,500 fine.

Moore's conviction makes him a Tier 1 sex offender who must register his address with the sheriff every year for 15 years. He will be required to pay court costs. He would spend five years on parole after any prison term.
