Jun. 6—BAXTER — Corder Noun Harder and Conner Maston were two of the biggest reasons Lynnville-Sully's baseball team was able to cruise past Baxter and Colfax-Mingo on back-to-back nights this past week. The Hawks also got strong pitching in both games.
On Thursday, Noun Harder and Maston led the Hawks at the dish during a 13-2 win over the Bolts.
L-S broke open a close game with a six-run fourth inning and cruised past Baxter 13-2 on the road.
Noun Harder finished with two hits, two walks, four runs and four steals and Maston added two hits, one run and one walk to lead the offense. One of Noun Harder's hits was a triple and Maston had a double.
L-S (4-3) had nine hits in the win. Baxter (1-5) managed just two hits in the loss and committed three errors.
Mason Jansen also had two hits in the win and he added one run, one RBI and one steal. Caleb Rea chipped in a triple, two runs, one RBI, one walk and one steal.
Owen Norrish finished with three walks, two runs, two steals and one RBI, Bryce Richards laced a doubled, scored a run and walked once and Carter Dunsbergen had one hit, one run and one RBI.
Davis Utech collected an RBI and Aiden LeCompte stole a base and scored a run.
Lucas Sieck earned the win on the mound as he went five innings and allowed no earned runs on two hits with eight strikeouts, one walk and two hit batters.
Braden Alberts pitched two innings and allowed no hits and no runs and struck out one.
The Bolts' two hits came from Cael Shepley and Andrew Klemme. They both scored a run and Klemme stole a base.
Rory Heer walked twice and stole two bases and Brad Matthews was hit by a pitch and had two steals.
Heer and Matthews both pitched in relief for the Bolts. Cody Damman started on the mound and allowed four earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and four walks in three innings. He took the loss.
Matthews pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs with three strikeouts and two walks in four innings. Heer failed to record an out and allowed two runs after walking two.
Lynnville-Sully 8, Colfax-Mingo 3
COLFAX — Noun Harder blasted a grand slam during a five-run sixth inning and that helped the Hawks pull away from Colfax-Mingo during a 8-3 win in South Iowa Cedar League play.
Noun Harder finished with two hits, including the homer, two runs, four RBIs and six stolen bases and Maston had two hits and two runs in the win for the Hawks (4-3 overall, 3-1 in the conference).
Norrish also had three hits, two RBIs and one steal, Utech and Alberts each walked twice and scored a run and Rea added one walk and one steal.
Jansen scored a run and stole a base, Richards walked once and Dunsbergen scored a run.
Maston started on the mound and pitched into the sixth inning. He allowed one earned run on one hit with nine strikeouts, one walk and two hit batters in 5 1/3 innings.
Alberts pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk and Lannon Montgomery tossed one inning and allowed no earned runs and no hits with one strikeout.
Colfax-Mingo (2-4, 0-4) scored one run in the third, one in the sixth and one in the seventh, but statistics were unavailable at the time this story was posted online.
