L7 Share New Song With Joan Jett: Listen

L7 have shared a cover of Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ “Fake Friends.” And the band’s cover features guitars and vocals from none other than Joan Jett. L7 have paired “Fake Friends” with the B-side “Witchy Burn.” Hear both songs below.

“To have Joan’s vocals on this track along with mine is super surreal and cool,” L7 leader Donita Sparks said in a statement. “Our band has experienced many fake friends, especially when you’re down. Some of these people you thought were your friends are nowhere to be found. Your phone calls aren’t returned, etc. It’s painful and it sucks. Then you find out who your true friends are.”

L7 returned last year with Scatter the Rats—released via Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records. It marked the band’s first new LP since 1999’s Slap-Happy.
