Twitter says no to political advertising

Twitter's ban on political advertising will go into effect Friday. "We believe political message reach should be earned, not bought," Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced in October. The decision differentiates itself from other companies that have resisted the push to stop taking political ads. Facebook is currently in a debate over the spread of misinformation through ads from political campaigns, which has reiterated that it does not think it should be the gatekeeper of political speech.

LA Auto Show: Car fans get a sneak peek at the future

Car enthusiasts will get a sneak peek at the future of the automotive industry as the Los Angeles Auto Show opens to the public Friday through Dec. 1. The show houses more than 1,000 vehicles, according to organizers, including many models headed to dealers in 2020. There are also plenty of prototypes of cars showcasing the latest electric vehicle technology, safety features and wireless connectivity.

Sebastien forecast to become rare November hurricane in Atlantic

Hurricane season isn't quite over. Tropical Storm Sebastien, spinning in the Atlantic Ocean about 1,200 miles east of Miami, is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane Friday, the National Hurricane Center predicts. However, Sebastien is not expected to pose any threat to land, forecasters said. Atlantic hurricanes are rare this late in the season: Only seven hurricanes have formed in the Atlantic after Nov. 20 since 1966, said Phil Klotzbach, a tropical scientist at Colorado State University.

Ex-college baseball player waits for sentencing in rape case

The attorney of a former college baseball player convicted of rape last month will ask the courts to postpone his client's sentencing because it might taint other cases he faces. Clay Conaway, 23, a former University of Delaware baseball player, is scheduled to be sentenced Friday about one week before the second of potentially six total rape trials are set to begin. After his first, two-week trial garnered much media coverage, Conaway's attorney Joe Hurley said he expects the sentencing hearing to be another point of public attention. Conaway could be sentenced to up to 15 years and as little as the time he is currently serving at Sussex Correctional Institution.

'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' released in theaters nationwide

"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” which chronicles the time Mister Rogers formed an uncanny friendship with a cynical investigative journalist, is in theaters nationwide Friday. Based on the real-life friendship between writer Tom Junod and Mr. Rogers, “A Beautiful Day” acts as a two-hour episode of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” for grown-ups, a meta-narrative showing the real world through a kids' show lens.
