On top of the vendors and deals to be had, The La Crosse Sport Show offers countless entertainment options as well. Take the kids through the Safari North exhibit to see wild animals from around the world. Come and meet Dexter the Dog who taught himself to walk like a human. Mad Dog and Merril will be in town to teach you that, “There’s nothing you can’t cook on a grill.” And do not miss the whimsy and mile-wide smiles found in Parakeet Landing. Not to mention, the kid’s fishing clinic, live trout pond, face painting, Wheezy Outdoors and much… MUCH… more.

The Sport Show runs Thursday through Saturday (2/8 -2/11/24) at the La Crosse Center. Times and ticket prices can be found at LaCrosseSportShow.com.

Everything from Boone & Crockett/Pope & Young to Black Pearl BBQ Rubs will be on the exhibit floor. However, someone you might not expect to see at the show, but enlightened me to how helpful they could be, is Beltone Hearing Aid Center. I sat down with Dr. Rebecca Younk from Beltone to talk about the benefits of hearing protection in the outdoors. She explained that, yes, firing guns is an obvious activity that poses a danger for hearing loss, but have you ever thought of popping in an ear plug when you’re out on the boat or snowmobile? And, according to a recent study, rural Americans are more likely to experience hearing loss due to the activities and professions they tend to engage in. Dr. Younk explained, “If you can’t carry a normal conversation without yelling to be heard, then you are at risk for hearing damage in that situation with protection.”

Beltone Onalaska will be on hand at the La Crosse Sports Show to talk about hearing protection options. From the Over-the-Counter, and simple, foam ear plugs to the more advanced (and personalized) “Swim Plugs” and everywhere in between. They can walk you through the options and show you where the dangers might be. As always, Beltone offers free hearing screenings and would be happy to walk you through that process as well.

I promise there is something for everyone at this year’s show. Boats, birds, bucks, bears, Beltone and things that don’t start with a B.

The La Crosse Sport Show, Thursday (2/8/24) through Sunday (2/11/24) at the La Crosse Center.
