La Palmera mall: Earthbound Trading Company open; Palenque Grill under construction

La Palmera mall on Thursday announced the opening of a new business, the beginning of construction for a restaurant and other updates to the shopping plaza.

Earthbound Trading Company, a bohemian fashion and accessory store, opened Thursday. The new shop is on the main level near BoxLunch and Pretzelmaker. It features home décor, crystals and stones, essential oils, bath items, books and more.

Announced in April 2022, Palenque Grill's construction is now underway. The 8,920-square-foot casual dining table-service restaurant will be adjacent to Dave & Buster's. Completion is slated for this summer.

A new Taco Palenque, also announced last year, is set to begin construction soon near Firestone.

Other recent changes at the mall include the convenience store Gulf Coast Quick Mart near Journeys and new locations for GameStop and Aman's Jewelers. LensCrafters is temporarily operating across from Build-a-Bear while construction is underway for a more expansive space.

A second valet parking location opened near the food court entrance and The Cheesecake Factory.

Amanda Sanchez, general manager of La Palmera, said the mall is staying busy with the new offerings and expansions.

“We’re happy to see work on Palenque Grill now underway and expect to see Taco Palenque construction begin very soon," Sanchez said in a release, adding that the new updates demonstrate "how La Palmera is dedicated to providing the best shopping and dining experience geared to the Coastal Bend communities we serve.”
