Labatt Blue Light introduces Throwback Tea: A nostalgic tribute to Buffalo Bills glory days

Labatt Blue Light is unveiling a drink that calls to mind the glory days of Bills yore and fits the current crew of Bills Mafia fandom to a “tea.”

Throwback Tea, which is an official sponsor of Bills Mafia, is a non-carbonated, red raspberry hard iced tea. Besides the red raspberries, what will have Bills fans thinking back to Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith and the rest of the 1990s Super Bowl era squad is the iconic red helmet on its packaging.

The red helmet graphic includes blue and white stripes, anchored by the Buffalo Bills logo. First introduced in 1974, the charging blue buffalo logo celebrates its 50th year anniversary during the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Dan Misko, senior vice president of business development for the Buffalo Bills, said in a statement this is the third product collaboration together.

“We are excited for Bills Mafia to enjoy as the Bills season begins this August,” Misko stated.

Remember this throwback Buffalo Bills helmet? Labatt Blue Light is hoping Bills Mafia does, as its a big part of the packaging for the new Throwback Tea.

What Misko left unanswered, what about the actual helmets? Until the season starts, Bills fans can only wait, wonder and wish for the helmet to be worn by Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and the rest of this year’s team. Maybe?

No group of fans is more passionate than Bills Mafia, said Corey Berger, associate brand manager for Labatt USA, in a statement.

“I’m right there with them. I still love rewatching clips of Bruce Smith destroying the competition and Jim Kelly’s K-Gun offense,” Berger stated. “Throwback Tea is all about celebrating Bills dominance then and now.”

Throwback Tea, will be available in stores later this week, just in time for Buffalo Bills training camp. It comes in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans and single 24-ounce cans.
