Labor Day Luau will aid two local causes

Aug. 8—POTTSVILLE — The annual Labor Day Luau, hosted by The Villa on Bulls Head, 141 Bulls Head Road, will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 4., and feature live entertainment by regional artists, a beer wagon, food, arts/crafts and other vendors, children's games, concessions, a Chinese auction and other activities.

Proceeds, according to an event flyer, will aid the St. Joseph Center for Special Learning and Schuylkill County Special Olympics.

The entertainment lineup will feature Bret Alexander of The Badlees; The Fat Cats acoustic duo; Eddie Collins Sr.; Keith Collins of Hooligan; Adrenalyn, with a guest appearance by Billy Tray; and Gorilla Pack. Greg Semanco will have charge of audio production.

Local vendors will include Lakeside Park Winery, Chuck Moran, Angie's Custom Crafts, Bailey's Beads, Big-Als-3DPRints, The Meyers Miscellaneous Treasure Chest, Deb's Candle, Kia's Kool Tupperware, 369 Divine, Kia's Kandyland, Busy B's Crafts, Sculps Hill Woodworking and Catina's Cookie Creations.

Food vendors will include Big Dawgz Cooking, Jerry Abbot with Leiby's soft serve ice cream, DA's Amazing Volcano Drinks and Rexy's Gourmet Dogs. Additionally, The Villa will whip up a luau-themed menu.

Face painting by Silly Smiles, plus T&M novelties and games will be on hand, as will an information table by Schuylkill Hope Center for victims of domestic violence.

Event sponsors include Richard B. Ryon Insurance and AAA Schuylkill. Glen Klein of Klein Artworks created the tickets.

Gates at The Villa will open at noon. Tickets, $10 in advance and $15 at the gate, are on sale now at the site during regular business hours, or by contacting Karrie Collins Grimes on Facebook. People 12 and younger will be admitted free. To buy alcohol, patrons must be 21 or older and have age IDs.
