Labor Day traffic death in Ocala: Man, 63, hit by two trucks while walking on I-75

A man who was walking across Interstate 75 early Monday died after being struck by two semitractor-trailers, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The deceased, identified only as a 63-year-old man from Opa-Locka, was walking west to east across the interstate's southbound lanes near the State Road 326 exit. The patrol no longer provides names of people involved in traffic crashes.

About 5:40 a.m., one truck, driven by a 31-year-old man from Amityville, New York, hit the pedestrian, the FHP press release says. The truck's trailer overturned and came to rest in the left southbound lane.

A second truck, driven by a 24-year-old Orlando man, then struck the pedestrian.
