Labor Day weekend to bring the sun out in Delaware, record heat coming next week to region
Labor Day weekend is here! Not only is the sun sticking around, but it will work overtime in Delaware next week as temperatures heat up.
The National Weather Service reports that record heat is expected to build across the Midwest and into the Mid-Atlantic region, starting this weekend and continuing into early next week.
With that in mind, here’s the forecast for each Delaware county over the next week (and a gentle reminder to remember your sunscreen and hydrate, folks!):
New Castle County weather
Friday will see highs in the upper 70s with winds between 5 and 10 mph. The evening will be clear with lows in the mid-50s and 5 mph winds.
Saturday will have highs in the lower 80s with winds around 5 mph. By nightfall, skies will be mostly clear before transitioning to partly cloudy. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s with winds between 5 and 10 mph.
Sunday will be sunny and hot, with highs around 90 degrees and winds between 5 and 10 mph. Nightfall will be mostly clear with lows in the upper 60s.
Monday rings in Labor Day with sunny skies and hot temperatures in the mid-90s. The evening will be mostly clear with a low of around 70 degrees.
Tuesday will be sunny and hot with highs in the lower 90s. Nightfall will bring lows around 70 degrees with mostly clear skies that transition to partly cloudy.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny and hot, with highs in the lower 90s. By evening, skies will be mostly clear with a low of around 70 degrees.
Thursday is forecast to be sunny and hot with highs in the lower 90s.
Kent County weather
Friday will be sunny with a high near 77 degrees and winds between 5 and 10 mph. By nightfall, the low will be around 55 degrees with clear skies and 5 mph winds.
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 79 degrees and 5 mph winds in the afternoon. The evening will be partly cloudy with a low of around 61 degrees and winds between 5 and 10 mph.
Sunday will have a high near 87 degrees and winds between 5 and 10 mph. By nightfall, skies will be mostly clear with a low of around 69 degrees.
Monday will be a sunny Labor Day as temperatures hover near 93 degrees. The evening will be mostly clear with a low of around 70 degrees.
Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 90 degrees. By nightfall, skies will be mostly clear and the low will be around 69 degrees.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 89 degrees. The evening will be mostly clear with a low of around 70 degrees.
Thursday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 88 degrees.

Sussex County weather
Friday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 76 degrees and 5 to 10 mph winds. In the evening, skies will be clear with a low around 55 degrees and 5 mph winds.
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 80 and winds around 5 mph in the afternoon. Nightfall will bring mostly clearly with a low of around 60 degrees.
Sunday will be sunny with a high near 87 degrees and winds between 5 and 10 mph. Nightfall will be mostly clear with a low of around 67 degrees.
Monday is forecast to be a sunny Labor Day, with a high near 92 degrees. The evening will see mostly clear skies and a low of around 70 degrees.
Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 90 degrees. Nightfall will be partly cloudy with a low around 69 degrees.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 89 degrees. By evening, skies will be mostly clear with a low of around 69 degrees.
Thursday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 89 degrees.
