Lacon woman, 28, killed in Woodford County accident that left four others injured

One person died and four people were injured following a traffic accident in Woodford County early Saturday night.

Erica Johnson, 28, of Lacon, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Woodford County coroner.

Johnson was traveling south on Illinois Route 26 just north of North Riverview Drive in a 2008 blue Hyundi Accent at 5:55 p.m. when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2017 gray Chevrolet Malibu traveling north.

The driver of the Malibu, Jeffry Jost, 67, of Sobieski, Wisconsin, and the front seat passenger, Susan Jost, 64, were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. A 12-year-old female and an 8-year-old male, passengers in the car with the Josts, suffered minor injuries and were also transported to a hospital.

All lanes of traffic were closed until 12:24 a.m.
