Laconia teen seriously hurt in snowmobile crash

Feb. 9—A Laconia teen was seriously injured in a snowmobile crash Thursday evening in Warren.

According to a news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game, the 18-year-old was snowmobiling with his father when he lost control of his machine on a curve and crashed into a tree, throwing him from the snowmobile.

Department officials said excessive speed and operator inexperience appear to be the main factors that contributed to the crash, which happened around 6 p.m. on Trail 157.

The teen's father transported his son by snowmobile to the Three Ponds Trailhead in Ellsworth and then drove him to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, where he was treated for serious injuries. The teen was later transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for additional treatment, Fish and Game said.

Officials did not identify the injured rider.
