Lacrosse Playoffs: See which teams are moving on in District One, PCL

And just like that...playoff season is here! The spring season has breezed by, and our lacrosse teams are being their quests for postseason glory. Check out the results, recaps and pairings for the District One and Philadelphia Catholic League tournaments right here, and be sure to check back for updates.

District One Girls

Class 3A

CB East and CB South Girls Lacrosse teams played Wednesday in honor of LAX 4 LIFE, a national campaign supporting suicide prevention awareness programs.

Second round, Thursday, May 18:

No. 14 Springfield Delco 4, No. 3 North Penn 2: Kiera Holt had six saves for the Knights, as defense was the name of the game against Springfield in the second-round game. Lauren Blanch and Kerry O’Donnell scored a goal apiece for the Knights, but were held to two goals by the Cougars’ staunch defense. Emily Varilla contributed four draw controls for the Knights, whose defensive efforts held Springfield to a lone goal in the second half.

No. 3 Downingtown East 13, No. 9 Pennsbury 12: The Falcons fell just short of advancing to the quarterfinals, despite a huge game from Darrien Furiness. Furiness, who reached 200 career points in the game, tallied five goals, three assists, seven draw controls and six ground balls. Maggie Golder scored four goals for the Falcons.

No. 6 Methacton 13, No. 11 Pennridge 6: Kendall Posey led the way with three goals, but the Rams couldn’t overtake sixth-seeded Methacton. Grace Rosica, Ava Fantaskey and Kate Unzicker scored a goal apiece for the Rams, who finished the season with a 14-5 record after winning just four games last season.

First round, Tuesday, May 17:

No. 9 Pennsbury 17, No. 24 Souderton 11: Darrien Furiness had a huge game for the Falcons in a definitive first-round win against Souderton. The Ohio State commit led the team in scoring with five goals and two assists, alongside five draw controls, seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Grace Holmes scored four goals and assisted on one more, while Olivia Graebner had three goals and two assists in the win.

No. 11 Pennridge 15, No. 22 Central Bucks South 7: Maddie Edinger scored to break a 5-5 tie early in the second half, and it was all Rams after that. Edinger led the way with five goals, and also tallied 10 draw controls in the first-round win. Kate Unzicker added four goals and an assist for the Rams. Kate Victor, Maddie Flynn and Tegan Mullan scored two goals apiece for the Titans, while goalie Gabby Mayo made 19 saves.

Class 2A

No. 11 Gwynedd Mercy at No. 2 Strath Haven, 3:45 p.m.

Quarterfinals, Thursday, May 18:

No. 5 Mount St. Joseph 13, No. 4 Upper Moreland 9: Freshman Annalise Messina had three goals, two assists and four ground balls for the Golden Bears in the second-round matchup. Messina scored her 100th career point in the game. Willow Taylor scored a goal and assisted on two more, while goalie Emma Hurley recorded nine saves.

No. 11 Gwynedd Mercy 18, No. 3 Jenkintown 7

First round, Tuesday, May 17:

No. 4 Upper Moreland 13, No. 13 Sun Valley 4: Annalise Messina netted five goals and Regan Cummins tallied three goals and four assists as the Golden Bears roared to a 10-0 halftime lead.

No. 7 Upper Perkiomen 17, No. 10 Dock Mennonite 5

District One Boys

Class 3A

Quarterfinals, Saturday, May 21:No. 1 Radnor 16, No. 8 Central Bucks East 3: Radnor'sMason Montrella scored three times for the defending state champions.

Second round, Thursday, May 19:

No. 8 Central Bucks East 13, No. 9 Souderton 10: Luke Christmas scored all three of his goals in the second half to give the Patriots the edge in a close second-round match. While the Patriots took an early lead, Tyson Bui scored three consecutive goals for the Indians to tie the game at 4-4. Thomas Williams had a hat trick in the win, while Nicholas Knepp contributed two goals and two assists. John Martin-Vince had two goals and one assist for the Indians.

First round, Tuesday, May 17:

No. 9 Souderton 17, No. 24 Great Valley 3: John Martin-Vince erupted for five goals and four assists as the Indians dominated from start to finish in the first-round matchup. Ty Quintois and Tyson Bui had four goals apiece, while Seth Grossman contributed three goals and two assists.

No. 15 Avon Grove 11, No. 18 Central Bucks West 5: Brayden Albrecht scored three times for the Bucks, who went into halftime with a 5-5 tie against Avon Grove. Matt Jacobsen and Austin Hahn scored a goal apiece for the Bucks, while goalie Evan Hee recorded 20 saves.

No. 19 Unionville 12, No. 14 Council Rock South 5: Sal Mastromarco scored four goals and Mason Shores made 14 saves in net for the Golden Hawks, who trailed by two at halftime but couldn’t overcome a strong second half by Unionville.

No. 11 Wissahickon 16, No. 22 Pennsbury 4: Kolby Ranniello scored two goals while Shane Siegmund had a goal and an assist for the Rams, who had a tough outing against SOL rival Wissahickon.

No. 10 Owen J. Roberts 15, No. 23 North Penn 4
