A Ladder Christmas Tree May Be the Rustic Touch Your Holiday Decor Needs

From House Beautiful

Hear us out: Christmas tree alternatives can be just as magical as the real deal. If you don’t have the budget for a real tree this year or don't want to deal with storing a faux one when the season ends, you can easily turn a ladder into a Christmas tree. Bonus: It can give your space a rustic touch.

To get started, you’ll need...a ladder! If you already have one, you likely have everything you need at home to carry out this festive DIY. If you don't have one, buy a wood one for a rustic aesthetic or opt for an aluminum ladder if you want more of an industrial look. Once you have your ladder, figure out where you want it to go and open it into its triangle shape.

For decorations, you can go many different routes. String lights, however, are a must if you want the ladder Christmas tree to have the same presence a real or faux one has when decorated. You can wrap the string lights around the sides of the ladder and/or on the steps. If you want the ladder to look even more like a Christmas tree, you can wrap some pre-lit garland around it.

After the lighting is all set, cover the ladder in ornaments. You can fill the entire inside of the ladder with ornaments on strings or hang a few on garland. When you end up with a design you like, don't forget to add a tree topper. Then sit back, and adore your work!
