Sandy Valley hung tough with defending state champion Hiland for the first three quarters of play, but the Lady Hawks proved too strong in the end as they pulled out a 49-36 win in a game closer than the final score indicates.

The Lady Hawks led 16-11 after the opening eight minutes of play.

Things turned around for Sandy Valley in the second quarter.

Alli Neary tallied five points, Jordan Parker had four and Amber Ward nailed a 3-pointer as the Lady Cardinals took a 23-21 advantage into the halftime break.

Hiland outscored the visitors 12-7 in the third quarter for a 33-30 lead.

The Lady Hawks secured the victory with a 16-6 fourth stanza.

Neary finished with 11 points, Lexi Tucci had seven points and two steals, Parker had six points, Ward had six points, and Abbey Parker had four points and nine rebounds.

It was a historic night for the Lady Tornadoes as they captured their 650th program win.

Dover led 20-10 at the end of the first stanza, 36-20 at the break, and 50-35 heading into the final frame.

Tucci scorched the nets for 19 points, swiped six steals and grabbed four rebounds for the Lady Cardinals. Parker had nine points and five boards, Neary had seven points and four rebounds, and Zoe Ward finished with six points.
