Lady Chaps finish sweep of St. Edward's

Kasey Flores drove in three runs with a double and her 15th home run, helping Lubbock Christian University beat St. Edward's 5-2 in a Lone Star Conference softball series finale Sunday at Maner Park.

LCU (30-8, 20-7) swept the three-game series and extended its win streak to 11 games.

The Lady Chaps took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on run-scoring doubles by Hope Banales and Flores, and Flores' two-run homer in the sixth made it 4-1. Berkeley Quinn and Skylar Herrera finished with two hits apiece for LCU.

Freshman pitcher Ashlinn Hamilton (6-0) went 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits. Taylor Franco finished for her first save.

Austin Beck, Tyler Boggs and Justin Harris had three hits apiece in the bottom third of the order, and No. 3 Angelo State run-ruled Lubbock Christian University 18-7 in seven innings Sunday, finishing off a Lone Star Conference four-game series sweep at Hays Field.

Jordan Williams and Harris drove in three runs apiece for the Rams (30-4, 28-4), who rapped out 17 hits against Marcos Escalera (1-3) and three relievers. Tripp Clark, Thomas Cain and Beck had two RBI each.

Brevin McCool went 4 for 4 for LCU (16-13, 15-13), which dropped to sixth place in the LSC. Chris Shull went 3 for 4 with his team-leading seventh homer and two runs batted in, and Eduardo Acosta hit a two-run double.

Angelo State won the second game of Saturday's doubleheader 20-6, getting three RBI apiece from Jacob Guerrero, Cain and Conagher Sands and two each from Kamden Kelton and Reese Johnson. The Rams piled up 20 hits without a home run, hanging the loss on starter Andrew Duran (4-2).
