Lady Gaga and Her Fiancé Christian Carino Have Ended Their Engagement

They were together for roughly two years.

Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Christian Carino, have broken up after roughly two years of dating.

A rep for the singer confirmed this news to People on Tuesday, February 19. “It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” the representative tells the magazine. “There’s no long, dramatic story.”

According to People, speculation about the state of Gaga's engagement began at the Grammy Awards on February 10, when fans noticed she wasn't wearing her ring and didn't thank Carino during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. (She and Bradley Cooper won the honor for "Shallow" from their movie A Star Is Born.) It was a noticeable absence given that Carino has been by Gaga's side throughout this entire awards season, from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to the Golden Globes.

More evidence that Gaga's relationship was over came on Valentine's Day, when she posted a photo of her new tattoo—a tribute to "La Vien En Rose," which she sings in A Star Is Born—but didn't say anything about Carino. "Happy Valentine’s Day. A tattoo toast to 'la vie en rose' by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose," she wrote in the caption.

It was first reported that Gaga and Carino were dating back in February 2017, after they were spotted together at a Kings of Leon concert. In October 2018 Gaga confirmed she was engaged to Carino, a talent agent for the Creative Arts Agency (CAA).

It's been a busy few weeks for Lady Gaga, who just wrapped the first leg of her Las Vegas residency, Enigma. Her next big milestone is performing "Shallow" at the Oscars this Sunday, where she's nominated for Best Original Song as well as Best Actress. Her A Star Is Born costar Bradley Cooper is expected to join her onstage for the performance.
