Lady Magi mop up visiting Pittsford

The Colon volleyball team is on a nice little run.

The Lady Magi won the Litchfield Terrier Tough Tournament on Saturday, then swept Pittsford on Tuesday at home.In Tuesday’s win, Colon picked up victories of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-11.

The team posted 25 kills in the match, Megan Mullins led the way with eight of those while both Reagan Thaxton and Macey Burgess finished with four. Mullins totaled two blocks and three aces, Burgess recorded 11 aces and two blocks as well.

Kesley Burgess totaled three kills with three blocks and two aces on the night.

Reese Williams handed out 18 assists on the night, she added three blocks with three kills as well. Lauren Lindsey, Liv Johnson and Savannah Meyers each scored one kill in the match.

In Saturday’s tournament win at Litchfield, Colon won all of its matches in pool play, beating Waldron and Will Carleton Academy. Once in the semifinals, Colon won in two sets over host Litchfield.

The finals saw the Lady Magi beat Waldron in three sets.

“The girls played well together, they have been working hard getting used to playing with each other,” Colon coach Michelle Walkinhood said. “We have five new girls on varsity. We’ve always struggled playing with intensity in the finals, today the girls changed that.”

Mullins logged 30 kills on the day, Thaxton recorded 20 while both Williams and Kelsey Burgess totaled 14. Williams passed out 57 assists and scored five aces.

Haven McClish led with 33 digs.

Mullins had a team-high 12 aces as well, Johnson scored 11 while McClish recorded six and Williams had five.

Burr Oak beats LitchfieldThe Burr Oak volleyball team got the best of Litchfield on Tuesday.

The match went three sets, Burr Oak won 25-16, 25-12 and 25-23.

Braylyn Hernandez handed out 27 assists in the win with 10 digs and seven aces. Sarah Hirschy led with 12 kills, nine digs and six aces.

Makenah Reaper scored nine kills for Burr Oak, she scored seven digs as well. Makaila Whittington recorded six kills.
