Lady Owls fall to Crandall in game 2 to set up decisive game 3

Apr. 29—After a 9-2 win in game 1 Thursday, the Joshua Lady Owls suffered an 8-2 loss to Crandall in game 2 Friday as the two teams will square off in a winner-take-all game 3 Saturday to decide their Class 5A bi-district playoff series.

Crandall scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and after Joshua scored once in the top of the fourth, the Lady Pirates took control with three runs in the home half of the fourth inning for a 5-1 lead.

Crandall added another run in the fifth inning to make it 6-1. The Lady Owls tried rallying but managed only one run in the sixth inning before Crandall plated two runs of its own to produce the 8-2 final tally.

After managing only four hits off Joshua ace Catie Amador in game 1, Crandall out-hit Joshua, 10-5, in game 2 against Ditha Gonzales.

Amador went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run to lead the Lady Owls in game 2. Jodie Epperson was 2-for-3 with five RBIs and two homers to lead Crandall.

Game 3 is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday in Crandall.
