Lady Vols sweep LSU for 19th consecutive win

No. 5 Tennessee (24-1, 6-0 SEC) defeated No. 12 LSU (23-5, 2-4 SEC), 9-2, Sunday at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Tennessee won its 19th consecutive game and recorded a second straight conference series sweep.

The Lady Vols scored twice in the first inning. Mackenzie Donihoo scored on a single by Lair Beautae. Donihoo scored on a wild pitch.

In the fourth inning, Jamison Brockenbrough hit a solo home run, extending Tennessee’s advantage to 3-0.

The Tigers also scored two runs in the fourth inning.

Tennessee scored three runs in the sixth inning. McKenna Gibson hit a solo home run and Giulia Koutsoyanopoulos stole home. Amanda Ahlin, who stole second on the play, scored when Donihoo reached on an LSU error, giving the Lady Vols a 6-2 advantage.

Koutsoyanopoulos hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning.

Karlyn Pickens (6-1) pitched 1.2 innings of relief, recording three strikeouts.

Payton Gotschall started for Tennessee, recording four strikeouts. Ashley Rogers closed the game as she pitched two innings, recording three strikeouts.
