La'el Collins misses Bengals' practice Wednesday because of personal matter
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said offensive tackle La'el Collins missed practice Wednesday because of a personal matter, according to a report from The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway.
Conway added that Taylor didn't say when he expected Collins to return but did say he expects Collins to be ready to go for the Bengals' Week 1 showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 11 at Paycor Stadium.
Conway's tweet:
Zac Taylor says La’el Collins was not at practice due to a personal matter. He didn’t say if/when he expected him back but did say he expects him to be ready to go Week 1. #Bengals pic.twitter.com/re4P5Hr2tb

Conway tweeted Monday that Collins' injury situation was starting to raise questions:
La’el Collins is not at practice yet today. He’s not on the rehab field, either. This whole situation is starting raise questions. LC has yet to go full-go with his new team and there’s been very little info shared regarding his back injury, the severity & how it happened

The Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith reported that Collins had a planned day off on Monday, adding that offensive line coach Frank Pollack said the Bengals were 'happy with where Collins is at - progressing.'"
Collins was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list July 23. He passed his physical and was able to resume practice Aug. 10.
Conway wrote last week that Collins has the chance to become the face of the Bengals' offensive line.
