Lafayette 4 year-old will be part of a video shown in New York's Times Square

A Lafayette child will be featured on two JumboTrons in New York City’s Times Square in September as part of an annual effort to promote the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

A photo of Chloe’ Bellelo, the 4-year-old daughter of Bryan and Tyler Bellelo in Lafayette, will be one of around 500 photos of children, teenagers and adults with Down syndrome included in the one-hour video by the National Down Syndrome Society. The annual presentation will be September 9.

Bellelo’s photo will appear among the bright lights of Broadway in the heart of Times Square, with the two screens located above Dos Caminos restaurant. The presentation will be livestreamed on the NDSS Facebook page from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Bellelo’s photo was chosen out of 2,400 entries, the NDSS said in a release.

The video presentation kicks off the New York City Buddy Walk in Central Park. In an email, Tyler Bellelo said the family will be in New York City for the event and participating in the New York City Buddy Walk that follows the presentation.

The New York City Buddy Walk has taken place since 1995 as part of the National Buddy Walk Program. The events are held in communities across the nation and the world. The events are designed to promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for local and national initiatives.
