Lafayette Jeff's Brady Preston wins National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete honor

WEST LAFAYETTE — Brady Preston was honored Sunday at the Purdue Memorial Union as the recipient of the National Football Foundation's High School Scholar-Athlete Award for Regions 1. 4 and 5.

Preston is now eligible for the overall state winner.

The 2022 Lafayette Jeff graduate was among 17 nominees for the NFF's Joe Tiller Chapter honor, nominated by high school principals and football coaches.

Preston was the a three-sport starter as the Bronchos' quarterback in football, forward in basketball and catcher for the baseball team.

Meanwhile, he maintained a 4.23 grade-point average and will continue his football career at Butler University while studying business.

Other nominees included: Robby Ballentine, Andrean; Justin Brady, Central Catholic; Cooper Crum, Harrison; Brendan Day, Winamac; Tate Drone, Rensselaer; Tanner Hampton, North Judson; Seth Ireland, North Miami; Kalvin Jones, Delphi; Hayden Lewter, Hammond Morton; Parker Minks, Clinton Prairie; Chris Mullen, Chesterton; Austin Pickett, Fountain Central; Brice Rider, West Lafayette; John Schnerre, McCutcheon; Samuel Smith, Caston; and Payton Stark, Tri-County.
