Lafayette man arrested in child sexual exploitation case

Feb. 7—A Lafayette man was arrested and accused of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material.

Cameron Joseph Lawstuen, 32, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child — distribution and sexual exploitation of a child — possession.

According to a release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children task force received information about the distribution or possession of child sex abuse material from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A search warrant for Lawstuen's home in the 800 block of Excalibur Street was served on Jan. 10, and police said they recovered additional evidence.

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office, Boulder County District Attorney's Office, Boulder Police Department, Longmont Police Department and Lafayette Police Department all participated in the investigation.
