Lafayette man indicted, accused of bringing underage girl from Virginia for sex
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Lafayette man who allegedly went to Virginia to pick up a teen, brought her back to Louisiana, and had sex with her has been indicted by a federal grand jury on child sex crime charges.
Court documents show Matthew Matherne, 45, has been indicted in U.S. District Court in Lafayette on the following charges:
Transportation of minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity
Production of child pornography
Possession of child pornography
Matherne pleaded not guilty in federal court to all three charges.

According to the indictment, Matherne did “coerce a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of said conduct” on or about Dec. 15. Matherne was arrested when the authorities went to his apartment and found the girl there, authroities said.
He’s currently in the custody of U.S. Marshals.
