Azteca's Mexican Cuisine, a restaurant situated on Ambassador Caffery Parkway near the Johnston Street intersection, announced it would be closing its doors last week in a Facebook post.

The restaurant had been temporarily closed, but it announced that the closure would be permanent.

"As you may have seen, we are currently closed," the post said. "We want to announce that we have decided to permanently close our doors. We want to thank you friends, family, and loyal customers for many years of business from the bottom of our hearts. So long, friends."

Lafayette's hampr closes $5 million funding round

Laundry company hampr, which has been one of the highlights of Lafayette's growing technology industry over the last few years, closed on a $5-million funding round last week, the company said in a release.

The company, founded by Laurel Hess in January 2020, has expanded to nine states and is in more than 35 major markets in the U.S.

“Through incredible investments and support,” Hess said in a release. “We have more than tripled the size of our original team, continue to open in exciting markets across the country, and are on the cusp of announcing exciting new membership options. It’s a thrilling time to be in the laundry business — as it’s truly the one chore that never stops for busy individuals, single parents, and families.”

New Firehouse Subs planned for Johnston Street

Lafayette Consolidated Government issued a commercial demolition permit last week for a future Firehouse Subs location at 5711 Johnston Street, permit records show.

The address was previously home to a Regions Bank. The brand, which is known for its support of fire departments and first responders, has three locations already in Acadiana. One is on Kaliste Saloom Road, another is in Carencro, and the third is in New Iberia.

Waitr gets extension on deadline to raise stock price

Waitr — which will soon be rebranded as ASAP — received a 180-day extension on the deadline to raise its share price above $1, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission.

The company, based in Lafayette, was given until July 25 to raise its share price above $1 for 10 consecutive business days, though it had been unable to. On Friday, the share price opened at $0.34.

ADORN celebrates 10th anniversary

ADORN, a jewelry shop in Downtown Lafayette, celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Friday.

“I am so grateful to have met so many amazing women over the past 10 years and to have had the opportunity to add to their wardrobe with my own style spin on the pieces they choose.” said owner Adrian Guidry in a release.

Completeful gets permit for renovation

Completeful, the drop fulfillment shipping service that bought the former Northside Wal-Mart, received a permit for the renovation of the facility on Northwest Evangeline Thruway.
