The Lago Vista school district will close two campuses Tuesday and Wednesday because of impacts from a COVID-19 outbreak, officials announced Monday.

The closures will impact Lago Vista High School and Lago Vista Middle School, officials said in a statement.

"Despite our best efforts to keep our campuses appropriately staffed to ensure adequate supervision and safe operations, the number of staff absences is greater than the number of available substitutes and staff members needed for coverage," the district said on its Facebook page.

Staff should report to work as usual those days, officials said. And students in grades 6-12 will return Thursday.

The district added that it has taken steps to try to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among students and staff, including strongly encouraging staff and students to wear mas when social distancing isn't possible. Parents of students who test positive for the virus are asked to notify the campus nurse.
