Laguna Beach - Where are the cast now?

There's nothing like a little bit of comfort telly to take the edge off when the real world becomes a little too hot to handle.

Enter Laguna Beach: the perfect distraction in these trying and troublesome times.

The MTV reality series, which revolves around a group of super privileged teens at the local high school, brought the drama from start to finish, dishing out love triangles, betrayal and everything in between.

But where are all of our favourites in 2020? And do they still keep in touch?

We did some digging and this is what we found.

Lauren "LC" Conrad

Then: The vast majority of Lauren Conrad's time on Laguna Beach was spent crushing on Stephen Colletti, who certainly gave her good reason to think that he was interested. But really, he only had eyes for Kristen Cavalliri (more on them later).

The feud between Lauren and Kristen was a constant throughout the show, and while LC did invite her rival to a dinner party in a bid to quash their differences, the pair never struck up a friendship.

Lauren's relationship with Jason Wahler, which came out of nowhere, became the talk of the town. But Jason and his ex girlfriend Jessica Smith kissed in front of Lauren at Trey Phillips's fashion show, which signalled the end of their relationship, or so everyone thought.

Lauren decided to give Jason another chance and he joined her on The Hills. But the pair eventually split for good after they couldn't make it work.

Now: Lauren went on to star in MTV's The Hills, where her place in the reality TV hall of fame was cemented for all of eternity.

The drama between Lauren and Heidi Pratt, which began bubbling away when the latter started dating Spencer Pratt, and quickly escalated when Lauren accused the pair of leaking false sex tape rumours about her, was the show's most talked about story.

LC's "I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you" speech is the series' most quoted line.

Another of The Hills' most iconic moments was Lauren turning down an internship in Paris to spend the summer with Jason. She was labelled "the girl who didn't go to Paris" by her boss at Teen Vogue.

Lauren's costar Whitney Port, who worked with her at the magazine and People's Revolution, later revealed that the Paris gig was fake.

Following her time on the show, Lauren made a number of minor TV appearances up until 2014, including America's Next Top Model, Fashion Police, Punk'd and The Eric Andre Show.

She has published several books and has her own podcast, as well as designing and curating her own lifestyle, fashion and beauty ranges.

Lauren married in 2014 and she has two children. She is still friends with Lo Bosworth,

Dieter Schmitz, Trey, and Stephen also said that the pair keep in touch.

Kristin Cavallari

Then: Kristen's on-off relationship with Stephen dominated Laguna Beach and fuelled her feud with Lauren.

But if she wasn't fighting with Stephen, she could be found flirting with Talan Torriero and Sam, or hanging with her best mates Alex Hooser and Jessica Smith.

Now: Kristen went on to appear in the latter stages of The Hills after Lauren left. She arrived during Heidi and Spencer's wedding and it didn't take long for her to butt heads with Audrina Patridge, Stephanie Pratt and others.

She briefly dated Audrina's ex Justin Bobby, before moving onto Brody Jenner, who she was keen to date. But he moved on to someone else and the series wrapped up with her leaving LA for Europe, or so it seemed.

The end of The Hills confirmed what everyone had known all along: much of it was scripted. Shortly after Kristen's car "left" for the airport, the camera panned out and the set was revealed as the director yelled, "Cut!"

Kristen appeared on a number of other reality shows following her time on The Hills, including RuPaul's Drag Race, America's Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars, as well as presenting on Paradise Hotel.

Kristen even had her own series Very Cavallari, which her ex husband former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler also appeared on. The pair married in 2013 but divorced after seven years, citing "irreconcilable differences". They have three children together.

Kristen also has a jewellery collection and a clothing line for kids, as well as a cookbook and another one on the way.

She said that she still keeps in touch with Stephen, and both Alex H and Alex M.

Stephen Colletti

Then: Stephen and Kristen's relationship was, as we've already mentioned, quite the ride and was undoubtedly Laguna's Beach's main draw for much of its run.

After the pair would fight, Stephen would run away to long-time friend Lauren, which didn't go down well with Kristen. There were hints on the show that LC and Stephen were more than friends and had "hooked up" on at least one occasion, but both remained tight-lipped about what had really happened between them.

Stephen's heart remained set on Kristen, but she eventually lost interest and decided that the boyfriend-free life was for her.

Now: Stephen went on to play Chase Adams in One Tree Hill and Teddy Reynolds in Hit The Floor, as well as popping up on a number of other shows and appearing in the music video for Taylor Swift's 'White Horse'.

He also developed his own original comedy called Everyone is Doing Great with One Tree Hill's James Lafferty.

Aside from Kristen and Lauren, who he reportedly dated for roughly a year, Stephen had relationships with Hayden Panettiere (Nashville, Heroes) and Chelsea Kane (Baby Daddy, Jonas).

Jason Wahler

Then: Jason Wahler dated (and cheated on) a number of his Laguna Beach costars, including Lauren, Jessica and Alex M.

Kristen and Alex H repeatedly told Jessica not to forgive his sins, but she just couldn't help herself and continued to go back to him, time and time again.

Now: Jason appeared on The Hills when he was in a relationship with Lauren, and briefly after following their breakup.

He's also part of the cast of The Hills: New Beginnings with his wife Ashley. The pair have one child together, and he has his own YouTube channel.

Jason, who appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew, describes himself as a "recovery advocate" who shares his own story of substance abuse and mental health issues to "provide education, insight, and hope to those who are struggling".

Jessica Smith

Then: Jessica will be most remembered for her turbulent relationship with Jason, and her friendship with Kristen and Alex H.

Now: Jessica was arrested for driving under the influence in 2007, but she has seemingly turned her life around and now reportedly runs her own Amazon store and lifestyle website.

According to her Instagram page, she's now married and has four children.

Talan Torriero

Then: Talan Torriero had his sights set on Taylor Cole, before quickly moving onto Kristen.

But despite his efforts, she wasn't interested and the pair never became an official item.

Now: According to LinkedIn, Talan is a content marketing consultant at a company called Ghost and he also has a YouTube channel.

Talan is married and has one kid.

Alex Hooser aka Alex H

Then: The vast majority of Alex H's screen time on Laguna Beach was spent counselling Kristen and Jessica about their various boy troubles.

She also extended the hand of friendship to Alex M and her clique in a bid to end the ongoing drama between their respective groups.

Now: Alex H, whose real name is actually Lauren, married in 2015 and has two kids. She currently lives in Hawaii.

Alex Murrel aka Alex M

Then: Alex M was best friends with Taylor Cole, and one of the most moving moments on the show was the pair of them saying goodbye to one another when they left for university.

Alex M also dated Jason, but their relationship was extremely brief because, well, it's Jason.

Now: Alex is the founder of a boutique media and marketing agency. She's married, has two kids and is still best mates with Taylor.

Lo Bosworth

Then: Lo and Lauren were thick as thieves on LB and were rarely spotted without one another.

Now: Lo joined Lauren on The Hills from season two onwards. The pair are still friends, and Lo was a bridesmaid at Lauren's wedding.

During her time on The Hills, Lo butted heads with Audrina when they were living together, but they later worked out their differences.

She now runs her own women's health company.

Taylor Cole

Then: Most of Taylor's storylines involved her friendship with Alex M, but she was romantically involved with Talan for a hot second, before he dropped her for Kristen who, in the end, really wasn't interested.

Kristen's dislike of Taylor was also a running theme.

Now: According to Taylor's instagram, she's a photographer and a holistic nutritionist in training.

She's married and has two children.

Dieter Schmitz

Then: Dieter was one of Stephen's best friends, and the two of them would regularly spend their time hanging out with Lauren.

Now: Dieter is the regional general manager for Lore Group, an international hospitality company.

He's married (his wedding was something of a Laguna Beach reunion) and has one child.

Trey Phillips

Then: Trey was the most entrepreneurial LB cast member, starting his own non-profit organisation Active Young America and organising various fundraisers and events.

Now: According to his LinkedIn, Trey is an associate designer at Vera Wang.

Christina Schuller

Then: Christina Schuller was the reverend's daughter and had dreams of becoming a performer. Her mum managed to bag her an audition with a Broadway casting director during spring break, but her dreams of hitting the big time were dashed when she didn't make the cut.

Now: Christina is now a certified nutritionist and barre instructor, and she has her own fitness and lifestyle brand.

She's married and has one child.

Morgan Olsen

Then: Morgan Olsen was best friends with Christina and the pair were never not seen together.

She made a pretty big statement when she decided not to invite Lauren and Lo to the birthday dinner that she'd organised for Christina.

Now: Morgan has her own swimwear business and is married with three children.

Casey Reinhardt

Then: Casey was initially referred to as "The New Girl" on Laguna Beach, but that changed once she got caught up in all the drama.

Kristen took an instant dislike to her, and Casey fought with Alex M after she helped spread a rumour that she had a "bad hygiene problem."

The pair eventually let bygones be bygones after Casey reached out for a second time to apologise.

Now: Casey is the owner and chief creative officer of Casey's Cupcakes. In 2011, she was also a winner on reality competition Cupcake Wars.

She is married and has two children.

Heidi Montag

Then: It was The Hills which put Heidi on the map, specifically her tempestuous relationship with Spencer and the the disintegration of her friendship with Lauren.

But she did appear on Laguna Beach on a couple of occasions, one of which was the fashion show where Jason and Jessica kissed while he was dating Lauren.

Now: Heidi is still married to Spencer and they one child together. She is involved with the running of Pratt Daddy, Spencer's crystal business.

The couple appeared on 2019's The Hills: New Beginnings, which reunited some of the OG gang, including Audrina, Stephanie, Whitney, Justin and Brody. It's been confirmed for a second season.

Heidi and Spencer have also appeared twice on Celebrity Big Brother, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me out of Here!, Celebrity Wife Swap and How I Met Your Mother, among other shows.

Jen Bunney

Then: LC's friend Jen Bunney was, by no means, a key player on Laguna Beach, popping up every now and again.

She was given more air time on The Hills, where her and LC exchanged words after she supposedly "hooked up" with Brody Jenner, despite a potential romance between LC and Brody.

He later said that he "didn’t have sex" with Jen (via Yahoo Style), and both Brody and LC later admitted that their fling was scripted and they were just friends.

Well, we never...

Now: According to her LinkedIn, Jen is a Doctor of Public Health and is the chief population health officer and senior vice president of the Regal Medical Group.

She got married back in 2014 and Heidi and Spencer went to the wedding. Jen is also Godmother to their son Gunner.
