Laingsburg man, 40, charged with attempted murder in non-fatal Dimondale shooting

Police are investigating after a man walked into McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital Friday afternoon with a gunshot wound.

Michigan State Police have arrested a 40-year-old Laingsburg man in connection with a non-fatal shooting Saturday morning in Dimondale, according to a social media post.

Bryant Keith Garth, 40, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and having a firearm while committing a felony, the agency said in a tweet. His bond has been set at $100,000.

A 49-year-old Tennessee man, who was shot in the incident, has been discharged from a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.

The shooting happened about 9:45 a.m. in the 200 block of West Quincy Street in Dimondale, police said Saturday. The Tennessee man was staying at the residence, and the suspect initially fled the scene in a vehicle before being identified.

It was not a random act; the two individuals knew each other. Police said the two men were "possibly arguing over money."
