Lake Andes structure fire kills one, another injured

Jan. 24—LAKE ANDES — A structure that broke out early Tuesday morning in Lake Andes killed one person.

According to Charles Mix County Sheriff Randy Thaler, the structure that caught fire around 3 a.m. was located on the east side of Lake Andes' Main Street.

The occupant who died from the blaze was an adult. Another occupant managed to escape the fire, but authorities say the person suffered from "major smoke inhalation" and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.
