Lake Charles Residents Return Home to Find Devastation From Hurricane Delta

Lake Charles residents returned home on October 11 to find extensive property damage, after Hurricane Delta battered Louisiana over the weekend.

Delta made landfall near Creole as a Category 2 hurricane on Friday, the National Hurricane Center said.

According to reports, many residents along Delta’s path were still recovering from Hurricane Laura, which hit the state roughly six weeks ago.

Louisiana Gov John Bel Edwards confirmed the first Delta-related death on Sunday. An 86-year-old man died while attempting to refuel a generator while it was still hot, which caused a fire, KSLA reported.

“Delta left a mark. The wharf, the venue of some of [our] favorite photo shoots, is now all over the yard. It’s a mess, but it’s fixable. Please continue to pray for those in our area who have lost everything,” they said in an Instagram post. Credit: @jeanie3legs via Storyful
